Oxidation and development of rancidity are major challenges for food manufacturers, resulting in shortened shelf-life and changes in the quality and nutritional value of their products. Consumers’ interest in natural antioxidants has increased dramatically over the past years and the general trend requires the replacement of synthetic molecules (e.g. erythorbates, BHA, TBHQ, BHT, propyl gallate, and sodium nitrite) to natural compounds.


Guardox™ AE is a natural acerola cherry extract rich in vitamin C and used as an antioxidant flavouring for preventing lipid oxidation in processed fruits, RTE meals and meat products.

Guardox™ AE may be labelled as acerola flavoring or acerola extract and Maltodextrin, which complies with REGULATION (EC) No. 1334/2008 on flavourings and certain food ingredients with flavouring properties for use in and on foods.
